Chai Spiced Date Truffles


 Dates are such a nutritional powerhouses! The benefits are numerous. They are extremely nutritious, high in soluble fiber, thus prevent development of colon cancer and other intestinal diseases. Great source of energy , high in potassium and other micronutrients. Packed with antioxidants which have an anti-aging effect. Not to mention that they are absolutely delicious! Bottom line is, that we have to take advantage of these little sweet gems in every way we can.

 So here is one of my favorite recipes of date truffles that I often have a jar of on the kitchen counter. I make a big batch and store some in the freezer or fridge, but you can make half the recipe of course. 


  • 500gm Dates

  • 100gm Almonds

  • 50gm Pistachios

  • 20gm Sunflower Seeds

  • 50gm Almond Butter

  • 2tbs Hemp Seeds or Sesame Seeds

  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom

  • 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger

  • Desiccated Coconut for coating


You can choose to roast your nuts and seeds or keep it raw to preserve the nutrients. Place almonds, pistachios, sunflower seeds and spices  in a food processor and blitz them for a minute or so until they have a consistency of large crumbs. Move it into a bowl. 

Now blits the dates in a food processor until it starts forming a ball of date dough. Once it reaches that consistency add the nut and spice mixture, almond butter and hemp seeds. Mix it well and start rolling into little ball. Coat them in desiccated coconut and enjoy!!
